New Zealand vs India test Series 2016 :
New Zealand cricket team has safely landed in India for 3-match Test series and 5-match ODI series starting from 22nd September to 29th October. 1st Test will be played in Kanpur starting from September 22. But before this, Kiwis will play three-day practice match with Mumbai.
When we talk about Test matches, both nations have played 54 matches from which 18 matches were bagged by India, 10 by Kiwis and 26 ended in Draw. Last time in 2012, New Zealand visited India and got white-washed. In that tour, Kiwis were lacking spinners and playing with only spinner Jeetan Patel.
For this Test series, spinning tracks are supposed to be prepared to favour home side. Keeping in view this factor, New Zealand have included three specialist spinners in their squad including Ish Sodhi, Mark Craig and Mitchell Santner. Sodhi and Santner performed well in World T20, taking 10 wickets each. On the other hand, India also have three spinners in their 15-men squad comprising R. Ashwin, R. Jadeja and Amit Mishra. There will be a great battle among the spinners of the opponents.
Talking about batsmen, good news for New Zealand is that all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has joined the Test squad after getting injured in Brisbane Test last November. New Zealand have high hopes from Guptill, Williamson, Taylor, Nicholls and Ronchi. India’s two batsmen Kohli and Rahane are hoping to continue their form from where they left in West Indies. Lokesh Rahul has emerged as a new opener for India in Windies tour and looks promising for this position. Cheteshwar Pujara is in red hot form and helped the Blues clinch the title of Duleep Trophy 2016-17.
Anyhow, it will not be like ready dinner on table for India. They will have to face the hard challenge of Kiwis’ unification under Williamson. A thrilling series is waiting for cricket fans in any case. New Zealand vs India test Series will Starts from 22 September.
